About Brand
With the blessings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, Indian Silk House Agencies began its journey in North Kolkata, founded by the visionary Sri Sumati Chand Samsukha. Through his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit, he transformed a simple saree showroom into a trusted household name across India.
In 1971, his sons, Sri Dilip Kumar Samsukha and Sri Tarun Kumar Samsukha, expanded the legacy by establishing a new showroom on Rashbehari Avenue, adding “Agencies” to the name. This branch was envisioned to serve the growing urban population of South Kolkata, and under Sri Dilip Samsukha’s leadership, it soon became a landmark for silk saree shopping.
The brand's foundation was built on values of quality, fair pricing, and the belief that every Indian woman should be able to wear a saree from Indian Silk House Agencies.
In 1998, Mrs. Pratibha Dudhoria, daughter of the founder, took over the Rashbehari showroom. Fondly known as Pratibha di, she brought the same passion and business acumen to the brand, guiding it to greater heights. Under her leadership, new showrooms opened in Barasat (2010), New Market, and Gorabazar (2014).
Today, Pratibha di is a respected figure in West Bengal’s saree industry, known for her popular style show on Colors Bangla. She continues to uphold the brand's legacy, staying true to the vision and values instilled by her father and brothers.
